Firefighters have narrowly managed to rescue a cat from a burning building in Sydney’s inner west.
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) were called to Brighton St in the inner west suburb Concord about 11am on Tuesday.
About 25 firefighters and six fire trucks rushed to help after neighbours noticed the unoccupied home had gone up in flames.
Firefighters forced their way inside and carried the pet to safety before the blaze completely destroyed the building.
The building has been entirely extinguished, but part of the home collapsed due to significant fire damage.
The cat is now in the care of a family friend and was due to be taken to a nearby vet for precautionary medical checks.
FRNSW’s Investigation and Research Unit has been notified as experts work to determine where and how the fire started in the home
