It has been a five-year whirlwind for brothers Joey and Ameer El-Issa who are preparing for their first Bearded Bakers world tour.

From playing with their mother’s traditional Middle Eastern recipes at Bar Biscotti in Strathfield to launching the all-singing, all-dancing Bearded Bakers - white clad, bearded party-makers who do their baking and shaking in purpose-made shipping containers - the El-Issa brothers have transformed the humble knafeh into a piece of food theatre.

Last year they unleashed their Knafeh Jerusalem Street Food travelling bakery on New York and launched a series of food destinations, themed around cars and retro takeaway food with a modern twist.

But before the world tour the El-Issa brothers are going back to where it all began with a special curated night of Israeli cuisine and entertainment.

In a partnership with OpenTable, an online restaurant reservations service, they will transform Strathfield’s old Arnott’s Biscuit Factory into a magical dining experience inspired by the Old City of Jerusalem on Saturday.

The three course Middle Eastern menu ($100pp), comes complete with their infectious singing, dancing and delicious food, of which Knafeh Bakery has become synonymous for.

Ameer said the bespoke full course menu to enable our fans to experience much more than what they were typically known for, which is the simplicity of Knafeh Bakery.

“At Knafeh, we’re all about the experience,” he said.

“At this event, we’ll bring the Old City of Jerusalem to life and give our guests the chance to see, smell and be involved in the entire process.”

OpenTable’s Tim Domelow said they prided ourselves on their ability to create new and interesting ways to bring people together over the dining table and forge memorable moments that can be shared.

“To celebrate the local success story of the Bearded Bakers and showcase their legendary

entertainment and food, we are excited to partner with them to make this exclusive dining occasion bookable, giving lucky diners the chance to experience Knafeh for the last time this year, before the Bearded Bakers depart Australia on their world tour.”

Only 40 reservations are being accepted for this special one-off dining experience. Reserve your spot at opentable.com.au
