A MEAL at Drummoyne cafe Lyons R.A.W. is good for you in more ways than one.
Steve Alfarah’s cafe received a five-star rating for food safety from a Canada Bay Council senior environmental health officer.
Canada Bay mayor Angelo Tsirekas said the statewide Scores on Doors program aimed to improve food safety standards.
“Residents and diners can now see how well local food businesses are complying with food hygiene and safety requirements with a star rating awarded to those achieving high compliance,” Cr Tsirekas said.
Lyons R.A.W. owner Steve Alfarah said he and his staff put effort into maintaining the cafe. “We always make sure it’s up to scratch,” Mr Alfarah said.
The cafe’s menu is regularly updated to provide a fresh and seasonal menu with high quality produce.
“We normally pay $45 a tray for avocados but about a month ago we were paying $100 a tray,” Mr Alfarah said.
“We could’ve gone cheaper for $75 a tray but we want to keep our standards up.”
Customers can enjoy the high quality avocados on offer at Lyons R.A.W. whenever the mood strikes, as it’s available with tomatoes on sourdough toast on the all-day breakfast menu.
“We don’t compromise, it’s A-grade produce all the time,” Mr Alfarah said.
“We go outside the box – we use truffle oil with our eggs, which people love, and we have triple smoked bacon as well as normal bacon.”
Lyons R.A.W. is open from 7am to 4pm every day at 155 Lyons Rd, Drummoyne.
