Forget T-shirts with “I Love NY” (New York) emblazoned on the front, inner west designer Diana Manzi wants us all the get behind ethical fashion by donning one of her “I love MODetische” shirts.

“Why wear an “I Love NY” tee when you can show you love ethical fashion?” Manzi said.

Manzi recently launched her own online T-shirt brand, modetische, a German word than translates to ethical fashion. And ethical does not have to be boring.

The other cute slogans in the modetische range includes the “me heart tee”, which speaks to our selfie age, Manzi said.

Manzi is working Allison Jose from Circular Fashion Centre, based in Ashfield, to source sustainable fashion fabrics.

“Together we hope to build a community of change-makers,” Manzi said.

“The modern phenomenon of fast fashion is harmful to the environment, it exploits people in developing countries and robs Australia of talent and manufacturing opportunities.

“Modetische strives to deliver high quality, on-trend garments using only organic or recycled fabrics milled in Australia and made by Australian garment workers.”

The Drummoyne resident said the T-shirts were screen-printed in Marrickville and the zero waste labelling was from Planet Ark and Buy Ecogreen in St Peters.

“We stand apart from all of our competitors due to our drive to make it easy for the consumer to be shop 100 per cent sustainably — we help them in their quest to be zero waste and plastic free while shopping organically, ethically and Australian made,” Manzi said.
