The sister of Matildas star Alanna Kennedy has faced court after being accused of fraudulently obtaining dozens of alleged victims’ personal details to create online accounts and buy tens of thousands of dollars’ worth of luxury items.

Amy Hoare, 37, from Ashfield, sat quietly in the dock donning a black hoodie as she faced Burwood Local Court with almost 70 fraud charges.

She was arrested last Wednesday morning and was charged with multiple counts of possessing other people’s identity details, using that information to commit an indictable offence and dishonestly obtaining property by deception.

The arrest comes after Burwood crime detectives investigated an alleged break-in at a Chatswood office last December.

Following inquiries police searched Hoare’s home where they allegedly seized a number of goods including a smart TV, mobile phones, a lounge, fridge and vacuum cleaner.

Police allege that the items were purchased using false identification which was stolen during the break-in.

In court, the police prosecutor said that the alleged break-in resulted in about 180 victim’s details being exposed.

It is alleged Hoare used the personal details of the alleged victims without them knowing to create credit cards and online accounts used to make multiple online transactions from April to June this year.

Court documents allege she bought a range of deluxe goods online including Macbook Airs valued at $1599, Apple iPhone 11 pro’s at $1899, a Michael Kors rose gold smartwatch valued at $605.95 and several Dyson v11 cordless vacuums at $1099.

She also allegedly purchased a bizarre amount of homewares featuring DeLonghi towel heaters, Breville smart air purifiers, a Sony smart led TV, a sofa, Zara coffee table and luxe bed linen.

In court, criminal defence lawyer Sarah Rashidi made an application for bail which was opposed by the prosecutor who told the court her release could “endanger the safety of victims and the community.”

Yet Ms Rashidi argued that Hoare did not know the alleged victims and would likely be remanded in custody for 6-9 months until a hearing.

She further said Hoare was diagnosed with ADHD and regularly sees a psychologist.

Reading the police facts magistrate Bruce Williams said, “The accused is alleged to have opened accounts of some of those people in alleged identity thefts.”

“She allegedly used a disguise to pick up the items.”

The magistrate told the court Hoare was charged with “serious” fraud offences with “significant amounts” of money involved.

Yet he granted her bail on the condition she stays in her Ashfield address and not possess any electronic device connected to internet.

She was also told to provide all her social media accounts and IP addresses to police.

Hoare is the sister of Matildas player Alanna Kennedy whose shared mother is Stephanie Kennedy.

The star defender has made recent headlines after being the latest Matildas player to play in England after joining Tottenham Hotspur on loan.

Hoare’s matter has been adjourned for two weeks for referral to the DPP.

She will reappear at the same court next month.
