University of Wollongong student tests negative for coronavirus
The university has made an announcement on the student’s condition after an ambulance was called to take her to hospital for testing on Wednesday after she had flu-like symptoms.

The University of Wollongong has confirmed a student taken to hospital for coronavirus testing on Wednesday has returned a negative result.
The female student was taken to hospital via ambulance around 10am on Wednesday for testing, after presenting to campus medical with flu-like symptoms.
Paramedics were called to the university’s main Gwynneville campus about 10.25am, and a UOW security car met the ambulance on Northfields Ave, escorting it to where the woman was waiting. She was wearing a protective face mask at the time.
On Friday, a university spokesman confirmed she did not have the virus.
“There have been no confirmed cases of coronavirus among UOW students and staff,” they said.
“UOW staff will continue to provide support to the student to ensure her wellbeing during this period.”
The news comes as Premier Gladys Berejiklian warns the state has not seen the worst of the impacts of coronavirus yet.
It comes after a sixth person contracted COVID-19 at a Sydney nursing home in lockdown, bringing the state’s total infections to 26.
