An ex-Finks bikie has been charged after police claim he threw a loaded gun out his car window during a police pursuit over the weekend.
Jayden Kierce, who is on strict bail over alleged firearm offences, was arrested on Saturday following two alleged pursuits through Western Sydney and the Illawarra.
The 21-year-old’s case was briefly mentioned at Wollongong Local Court on Monday where he chose not to apply for bail.
In court documents, police allege Kierce was behind the wheel of a Toyota Rav4 that was involved in a high speed police pursuit at Ropes Crossing just before 112.30am on September 5.
Police allege Kierce reached speeds of 158km/h in a 70km/h zone on Forrester Road.
The pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns, however, police allege that around 2pm that same afternoon Kierce led police on another chase, this time through Port Kembla.
In the documents, police allege the same Toyota was observed on Horne Street and a pursuit initiated. However, it was again terminated.
They further allege after the chase, police conducted a search on Horne Street and located a loaded, shortened .22 rifle, allegedly thrown from the Toyota during the earlier pursuit.
Kierce was arrested at McDonald’s at Northcliffe Drive in Warrawong a short time later.
The Mount Warrigal local was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with 12 offences including three counts of drive motor vehicle while licence suspended, police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly, drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, as well as several firearm charges, including possess loaded firearm public place and possess shortened firearm (not pistol) without authority.
Kierce was formally refused bail at Wollongong Local Court by Magistrate Claire Girotto on Monday and will remain on remand in custody until his next appearance.
