Market Street shooting: Police release image of man as investigations into Wollongong shooting continue
Police are appealing to the public to help them identify a man allegedly involved in a violent bashing and shooting at a Market Street unit block earlier this year.

Detectives have released an image of a man as investigations continue into an alleged ‘targeted’ shooting in Wollongong earlier this year.
Just before 9pm on March 24, a 50-year-old man entered a stairwell of a unit complex on Market Street, and was approached by two men who were allegedly armed with a hammer and firearm.
As the 50-year-old man attempted to walk past the pair, they allegedly assaulted him, before he was shot in the leg. The two men ran from the complex and fled the scene in a vehicle parked nearby.
The injured man was treated at the scene before being taken to Wollongong Hospital for treatment to a bullet wound to his knee.
Officers from Wollongong Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. At the time police described it as a ‘targeted’ shooting.
Following extensive inquiries, a 21-year-old man was arrested and charged in relation to the incident on June 12. He remains bail refused, and his next court appearance is scheduled for September.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for help from the public to identify a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.
The man was seen outside the City Beach Motel on the corner of Crown Street and Harbour Street, Wollongong, about midday on March 25. He was wearing red shorts, a grey top and grey baseball cap, and is believed to have entered a silver Commodore sedan.
