A fitness complex, child care centre and two new fast food restaurants have been proposed for a vacant lot at Primbee.
Wollongong City Council has received an application for a two storey commercial building including fitness centre, 90 place child care facility, neighbourhood shops and two sites for fast food restaurants.
The existing site, formally part of the adjacent golf course, is a vacant, predominately cleared parcel of land fronting Golf Place and Windang Road, otherwise known as the Primbee Bypass.
The site was recently been purchased by Revelop Building and Developments Pty Ltd from Illawarra Retirement Trust (IRT).
The broader development will comprise of three separate buildings spread out over the
site. Two single storey stand-alone buildings to accommodate fast food restaurants and a large two storey building would house a fitness centre, a kids recreation facility and a neighbourhood shop on the ground floor, with a 90 place child care facility within the first
floor. `
The neighbourhood shop seeks consent to operate 6am to 10pm 7 days per week.
The childcare facility would hold space for 30 children between the ages of zero and two, 14 places for children aged two to three and 46 places for children aged three to five.

The development would also feature a carpark with 126 spaces.
In its application, the proponent said the development would play a valuable role in the community.
“[It] will play a valuable role in servicing the community of Primbee and motorist that travel along Primbee Bypass by providing valuable child care and recreational services while also increasing commercial opportunities including the introduction of fast food restaurants and local services to nearby residents and broader locality,” the application said.
The development is currently on exhibition with Wollongong City Council.
