Ousted Labor veteran Marianne Saliba and three others have been hit with infringement notices in the wake of an incident during the Shellharbour Ward A by-election last month.

Police were called to the Centenary Hall pre-polling centre in Albion Park on Tuesday, July 19, after reports of an argument between Ms Saliba and Labor candidate Aaron Vann.

Mr Vann, who is the stepson of Shellharbour MP Anna Watson, alleged Ms Saliba deliberately reversed over his foot, however, she claimed he was obstructing her from parking.

On Monday, police issued Ms Saliba with an infringement notice for not reversing a vehicle safely which carries at $194 and two demerit points.

Mr Vann, and two other males, were handed infringement notices for obstructing a driver’s path – the offence carries a $72 fine, or up for $2200 if contested in court.

Ms Saliba, who has a physical disability, told NewsLocal in the wake of the incident she was simply trying to get a closer parking spot.

“No I don‘t [expect charges to be laid],” Ms Saliba said last month.

“There were enough people there who know exactly what happened.”

The infringement notice is further salt in the wound for Ms Saliba who has endured a tumultuous eight months during which she‘s lost the mayorship, been kicked out of the Labor Party and failed to get back on council via the Ward A by-election.
