Details have emerged in court about a former doctor turned medical writer allegedly molesting another man at Wollongong Train Station.
Paul Surrinder Singh Labana, 47, appeared via video link in Wollongong Local Court on Monday to plead not guilty to intimidation and two counts of sexually touching another person without consent, charges stemming back to late last year.
Court documents state the alleged offending occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, December 21, at which time Labana was subject to a community correction order.
The alleged episode began about 3am when the man, who was unknown to Labana, was walking towards the train station.
“Come back to my place,” Labana is alleged to have requested multiple times.
Police allege CCTV footage captured both men walking to one of the platforms at the station, with Labana seen harassing several homeless people.
The alleged victim took a photo of Labana and told him “f--k off or I'll call the cops”.
The documents stated the man walked over the bridge to the opposing platform of the station, however, he was allegedly followed by Labana who continued to urge him to come to his nearby home.
Labana allegedly followed the man onto a train, sat next to him, and proceeded to rub his hand up and down his leg while grinning and staring at him.
“F--k off or I'll punch you in the face,” the man exclaimed before jumping off the train and walking to the carpark.
The court documents indicated the alleged victim started urinating in a bush when he heard Labana say “You know you're gay, you know you want it, come back to my place”.
Labana then allegedly said “let me get that for you” and grabbed the man’s penis.
The alleged victim pushed Labana away and fled the scene before calling his wife to pick him up.
The complainant’s wife later reported the matter to police.
In court on Monday, Magistrate Chris McRobert said he felt the alleged incident was “driven by psychiatric issues as opposed to malicious intent” and was prepared to grant him bail.
The court heard Labana requires medication for ongoing health issues with tendered documents indicating he suffers from alcohol dependency.
Mr McRobert ordered Labana not consume or take drugs unless prescribed to him by a medical professional.
The matter will be mentioned in Wollongong Local Court next month.
