An elderly woman has died after she was hit by a car in a residential street near Wollongong.

An elderly woman has died after she was hit by a car on a residential street in Figtree this morning.
About 10am today, Wednesday, October 16, police responded to reports a pedestrian had been hit by a vehicle on London Drive, near Thames Street in Figtree.
A woman, believed to be in her 80s, was taken to Wollongong Hospital by NSW Ambulance Paramedics where she later died as a result of injuries sustained.
Police established a crime scene and the driver of the vehicle, an 85-year-old man, was taken to Wollongong Hospital for mandatory testing.
Police have confirmed investigations into the incident are continuing, but said no further information about the cause was available at this time.
