Bong Bong Road, Dapto: Police operation underway after alleged robbery

Police are scouring parkland in Dapto after what is understood to be a robbery in the early hours of the morning.

Police have tapped off the carpark on Bong Bong Road as investigations continue.

Police are investigating an alleged robbery in Dapto, with detectives scouring parts of Bong Bong Road near the town’s skate park.

Residents reported seeing police with metal detectors looking through grass at Dapto’s Reed Park, which was closed to the public and declared a crime scene for much of the morning.

The parkland in Dapto was a crime scene on Thursday afternoon.

The carpark opposite the park is currently tapped off, with detectives investigating reports of a robbery, which allegedly occurred around 3am.

It’s not yet known what was stolen, however it is understood multiple people of interest remain at large.

A resident nearby said he “got a fright” when he saw police at the skatepark this morning.

“There were a lot of them, they were looking all around for a couple of hours,” he said.

“I was thinking, I hope something terrible hasn’t happened”.
