A Dapto mother who hurled abuse at her ex’s new partner in a string of vile messages has been placed on a six-month community corrections order.
The order was handed down in Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday after Julie Ann Elizabeth Oloughlin, 45, pleaded guilty to intimidation.
Documents tendered in court stated the front and back windows of the victim’s car were smashed sometime on the morning of May 15, 2022, with the police investigation leading to the shocking messages coming to light.
The victim told investigators she believed it may have been the Oloughlin because she had been “making threats to kill her and come after her”.
No charges have been laid by police in relation to the damage to the car.
However, the victim showed police one series of messages from April 10, 2022, where Oloughlin threatened to “destroy” her.
“Keep reporting my account it‘ll just get worse for u !!!,” the messages said.
“Why does he still ask me to come f--k him when he has u ??? Your a such a slut.
“Your a such a slut … And how’s she like been put on the tramp and slapped like a whore like her mamma what till I see u !!! WLK away from my family now or I’ll destroy you!!!
The documents stated the police then saw messages the following day where Oloughlin said she “c--t ilm kill u”, which left her fearing for her safety.
After speaking with the victim, police went to Oloughlin’s house on Rutledge Ave, Dapto, where she was arrested and admitted to sending the messages.
In court on Wednesday, Magistrate Gabriel Fleming said intimidation was a “very serious offence” which carried a maximum sentence of five years behind bars.
“If those messages were sent to you, you would expect me to be reading the riot act,” Ms Fleming scolded.
A condition of the CCO is for Oloughlin to continue seeing a psychologist with a continued AVO against her for the victim’s protection.
