Coronavirus: 26 cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the Illawarra, Shoalhaven region
Authorities have confirmed there were more than 20 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Illawarra as of noon Monday, jumping from just seven on Friday afternoon.

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Illawarra has jumped to more than 20, as the outbreak worsens across the state.
As of noon on Monday, the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD) confirmed there were 26 confirmed cases of COVID-19, jumping from just seven on Friday afternoon.
“The ISLHD Public Health Unit is contacting people who have been in close contact with any of the confirmed cases,” a spokesman said in a statement.
“Close contacts are asked to self-isolate for 14 days from their last contact with the case, or to be tested if they develop symptoms.”
There are three COVID-19 Assessment Clinics now open across the district – at Wollongong, Shellharbour and Shoalhaven Hospitals.
The district said these assessment clinics enable people who fit the case criteria to be assessed without having to present to an Emergency Department and without a GP referral. People without symptoms do not need to be tested.
“We are encouraging the community to be aware of the criteria for COVID-19 testing to ensure we can prioritise and protect anyone at high risk of infection,’’ Director of Public Health Curtis Gregory said.
Across the state, 669 people had been diagnosed with COVID-19 by Monday afternoon.
From 8pm on Sunday, an additional 136 cases of COVID-19 had been diagnosed, making it the biggest jump in cases.
