A woman has been killed in a horrific crash near Berry this morning, while three others have been seriously injured.
Emergency services were called to Gerroa Road, between Berry and Shoalhaven Heads, around 10am on Tuesday morning, following reports two sedans had collided head-on.
Three women were travelling in one car, one of whom died instantly. The two others in the vehicle suffered critical injuries and are expected to be flown to hospital shortly.
The female driver and sole occupant of the other vehicle suffered leg injuries and was flown to Westmead Hospital in a stable condition.
It’s understood the three women in the first vehicle were visiting the region from Sydney, and were on their way home.
NsW Ambulance special operations paramedic Brad Stevens said the circumstances were “difficult” to work under.
“When we are called to any road accident it is always challenging especially when we are treating multiple patients,” he said.
“Paramedics and emergency services never want to attend these types of accidents.”
“When getting behind the wheel of any vehicle please take extra care and look out for each other.”
Officers from South Coast Police District have established a crime scene, which will be examined by the Crash Investigation Unit.
Emergency services remain on scene with Bolong and Gerroa roads closed.
The road is expected to be closed for several hours and motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible.
