A Socceroos legend who was part of Australia’s ‘Golden Generation’ has faced court for the first time over allegations he assaulted a woman in his Corrimal home.
Scott Chipperfield, who played at two World Cups, appeared in Wollongong Local Court on Thursday on charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault.
Documents tendered in court said Chipperfield allegedly assaulted the same woman about 12.30am in the early hours of Monday.
Chipperfield’s lawyer Daryl Quirk said in court he would make representations to police about the charges.
Mr Quirk indicated Chipperfield would plead not guilty pending the outcome of the negotiations and he would meet with a barrister to discuss the case.
The case will return to court next week and Chipperfield was excused from attending if legally represented.
Chipperfield was on bail, which will continue.
