######For Dylan Hunter, a change has been as good as a holiday when it comes to his cricket.

The new Gordon recruit is enjoying a breakout season with his new club who on Sunday took on UNSW in the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Sixers Conference final.

Hunter has had three outstanding batting performances in the T20 series, scoring 88 runs off 47 balls (including seven fours and six sixes) against his old club, 40 off 19 balls against Manly a week later and then 67 off 28 balls (including seven fours and five sixes) in the conference semi against Sutherland.

“I came (to Gordon) for a bit more opportunity. Randwick was a very strong club and I want to do a bit more and have more of a role,’’ said Hunter, who has a degree in exercise and sports science and is hoping to do a masters in physiotherapy.

“I was in a similar position last year (making the finals) and was on the losing side of the fixture against Sydney.

“Hopefully it’s a different outcome this year.’’

Also playing a major role in the recent success of Gordon - who have never before advanced so far in the T20 Cup - is Tym Crawford who believes the captaincy has helped lift him to a new level this season.

The Northbridge PE teacher and cricket coach at Shore scored a century in round one of the Kingsgrove Sports T20 competition against Eastern Suburbs at Waverley Oval.

His 101 game off 54 balls and included eight fours and seven sixes.

“I’m playing my best cricket this season. There’s been a bit more onus on me and maybe captaining has helped as well,’’ said Crawford, whose team lost a raft of batting experience pre-season.

“I felt the need to take more responsibility in terms of batting. It does help me knowing I had to score more.

“Dylan has been a really good addition to the team this year and the bowlers have been really good. We have bowled teams out nearly every games.

“Jackson Saggers, Quincy Titterton, these bowlers in particular have taken a lot of wickets for us.’’
