Beecroft Rugby’s Headen Park clubhouse in Thornleigh is set for a much-needed upgrade after the club received $125,000 in funding from the federal government.
Berowra Federal Liberal MP Julian Leeser and Federal Minister for Sport Bridget McKenzie visited the club last week to announce the funding.
“This is a fantastic result for the Thornleigh and Beecroft community,” Mr Leeser said.
“From the time I was elected I have been listening to the members of Beecroft Rugby Club about their ambitions to grow the club and rugby participation. Since then, I have been fighting for a better Headen Park for everyone.
“I am thrilled that all the hard work paid off and we have been able to deliver for the Beecroft Rugby Club and the community.”
Beecroft Rugby Club president Ben Ashwood said the funding would be used to construct a second level on the existing clubhouse to upgrade the change rooms, referee rooms and toilets.
“Our club could not be more excited about our funding being approved,” he said.
“We are immensely grateful for Julian’s success in having this project funded. We want to grow the game in the women’s sevens and Under 21s men’s divisions. But we need better facilities to accommodate everyone.
“This funding will help us continue to deliver for our members and their families.”
