CONSTRUCTION of the $19.8 million development of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital’s multi-storey carpark has commenced.
Hornsby state Liberal MP Matt Kean said it will provide 520 car spaces at the hospital campus as part of the State Government’s sustainable hospital carpark investment program.
“I am proud to be delivering a better hospital for the people of Hornsby,” Mr Kean said.
“Stage one is complete and now we are focusing on the carpark, before the stage two development commences next year.”
Construction of the carpark is expected to be completed late next year, and will coincide with the $200 million stage two redevelopment of Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital.
“This is about making it easier for patients to park and better for local resident, and better for local residents who will get their streets back,” Mr Kean said.
“The community has been calling out for this for years, and I am proud to deliver another commitment for our community.”
Stage two includes new emergency and paediatrics impatient units, as well as a five-storey clinical services building that will include a medical assessment unit, combined intensive care and high-dependency units.
“The Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospital stage two redevelopment will improve the overall campus services, and provide further support for paediatric and rehabilitation services on site,” Mr Kean said.

Berowra Waters residents Tony and Yvette Bray attend the hospital on a regular basis and say they will benefit greatly from the multi-level carpark.
“Along with the rest of the redevelopment of the hospital, this will make it so much easier to access the hospital,” Mr Bray said.
“It is very difficult to access the hospital currently, so this is the single most important development for the Hornsby shire community right now.”
