Motorcycle rider seriously injured in Galston crash

A man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries after crashing his motorcycle in north west Sydney.

A 28-year-old man has been taken to hospital in a stable condition after his motorcycle slid over and crashed off the road northwest of Sydney.

The man suffered multiple injuries following the accident today, including to the arms, legs and abdomen. His partner was riding not far behind but avoided any danger.

CareFlight’s rapid response rescue helicopter was called to the scene in Galston shortly before 1.30pm, landing in a paddock beside the road.

The critical care team climbed over a fence to reach the patient and were soon assisted by NSW Ambulance paramedics who arrived by road.

CareFlight’s specialist doctor and critical care paramedic provided treatment at the scene before escorting the patient in a road ambulance.

On the way to hospital, as the man’s condition worsened, CareFlight’s medical team were able to provide a blood-plasma transfusion, supported by the NSW Ambulance team.

The man was taken to Westmead Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
