A dozen teams have been chosen from around the nation to take on the slimiest of obstacles courses in the hope of becoming the last pair standing.

Three of the 12 teams hoping to win the coveted Nickelodeon Slime Cup hail from northern and western Sydney.

The three pairs of contestants were chosen from thousands of children who auditioned from across Australia and New Zealand.

10-year-old school friends Daniel Tieck, of Wahroonga, and James Dailly, of Pennant Hills, channelled their favourite SpongeBob SquarePants for the show as they compete as Pat ‘n’ Bob.

James said they “just wanted to be slimed a lot” while Daniel said he was “very excited” when they found out they were chosen.

“It was fun getting to meet the other teams as well,” Daniel said.

Cousins and close friends Claudia Sammut and Alessia Georges, auditioned as “a bit of fun”.

“We never thought we were going to make it in,” Claudia, of Wentworthville, said.

The 12-year-olds, a.k.a the Fairly Odd Cuzzies, came up with costumes based on series The Fairly OddParents.

“We wanted something crazy,” Alessia, of North Rocks, said.

“And something that would stand out,” Claudia added.

Blacktown friends Taleah Stocker and Isabella Young hope their dance skills will help them take home the Slime Cup as the Double Daring Dancers.

Isabella, 12, said the pair auditioned because “we thought it’d be a cool experience”, while Taleah, 9, said the slime was “very cold”.

Slime Cup premieres tonight at 5.30pm and continues for the next six weeks.
