It was a sensation for Easts and a heartbreaker for Gordon.
The Australian rugby club championship in Brisbane on Saturday had everything - except the rain deluge which turned sport in Sydney on its head on the weekend.
Gordon looked to have the match in the bag only to have its snatched away when Easts halfback Eli Pilz kicked a winning penalty goal on full-time.
The result - a shock 14-13 win to the Queensland side over the Gordon Highlanders - the team which beat Eastwood to win the 2020 Shute Shield.
New coach Billy Melrose and his Gordon men flew north on Saturday with their sights set on victory.
But an Easts side who never gave up had a different plan to the delight of their fans who rushed onto the field to celebrate with their club after the last-minute win.
Gordon took a 10-3 lead into halftime before flyhalf Aidan Toura scored for the hosts in the 55t minute. Reece McDonald nailed a penalty goal to put the visitors back in pole position before Piltz converted to give Easts the win.
