Heist attempt: Man allegedly rams car through Waitara car dealership

A 26 year old man who allegedly rammed a car into a car dealership in an attempted heist has been arrested.

A man who allegedly stole a car used it to ram through the doors of a car dealership in Sydney’s upper north shore, in what police say was an attempted heist.

The 26-year-old was arrested by police at a hotel on the Pacific Highway in Waitara, about 10.15am on Friday, following the incident at 4.30am.

According to police, a white Volkswagen Amrok utility was allegedly driven through the front doors of the car dealership on the Pacific Highway in Waitara.

Police have been told the driver allegedly attempted to steal a vehicle, then allegedly stole some personal items before fleeing the scene on foot.

Officers from Ku-ring-gai Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced an investigation.

Inquiries revealed the Amrok had been allegedly stolen from the Queanbeyan area on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old is currently assisting police with inquiries.
