A former Big Brother contestant who breached his home detention sentence has been granted home detention bail – under identical conditions to those he has already broken.
Saxon Pepper left the District Court on Friday hand-in-hand with his partner, telling reporters he “felt amazing” and “won’t breach it again”.
“I’m happy to be out, feeling top of the world to be home with my kids for Christmas,” he said.
Pepper, 35 – who competed in the 2008 season of Big Brother – pleaded guilty to possessing fantasy, cocaine, cannabis, meth, a loaded shotgun, a baton and a “credit card knife”.
He also admitted repeatedly breaching his home detention bail by going out to buy takeaway food.
In August, the court sentenced him to home detention under 24/7 electronic monitoring, ruling he had “displayed genuine remorse and regret”.
On Tuesday, prosecutors alleged he breached that sentence just two months after it was imposed by consuming illicit drugs.
On Friday, the court heard Pepper had recorded a positive drug test – but only after telling his home detention supervisor that he expected to return a positive result.
Prosecutors said that, if the supervisor confirmed Pepper’s version of events, they would not object to his breach being excused and his home detention sentence continuing.
Judge Joana Fuller, who imposed the sentence, said she would seek a report from the supervisor and released Pepper on home detention bail to face court next week.
“The terms of your bail agreement at the same as the home detention sentence I imposed some time ago,” she said.
“Make sure you comply with your bail – if you don’t, things are not going to be looking good for you next week.”
