Brock McNamara: Man allegedly found with 5.4g of meth to fight drug supply charge in court

An Ashcroft man who was allegedly caught with 5.4g of meth is set to fight a charge of drug supply in an upcoming hearing, despite pleading guilty to other charges.

Brock McNamara, 29, of Ashcroft has pleaded guilty to a raft of charges dating back to December 2019 including contravene restriction in AVO (domestic), resist officer in execution of duty, have custody of an offensive implement in a public space and destroy or damage property.

However, he has pleaded not guilty to supply prohibited drug and according to court papers, pleas are yet to be entered for possess prohibited drug and two counts of fail to appear in court.

Details from court documents paint a picture about what allegedly took place in the early hours of December 3, 2019 while McNamara was out in Artarmon, although it’s unknown what order the events happened.

Police will allege McNamara allegedly brought a hammer to a public place on Barton Rd and when he was searched by police, officers allegedly found in his possession 5.4g of Methylamphetamine.

Police will also allege during McNamara’s arrest that he resisted police and after being put in the back of a police car he intentionally or recklessly damaged the back cage door.

During court proceedings McNamara’s lawyer confirmed a brief had been served and they were ready to progress to a hearing.

“He’s pleaded guilty to everything else except for supply,” the lawyer told the courtroom.

The matter was adjourned for mention of November 18, while a hearing date was set for February 10, 2021.

McNamara was offered the opportunity to comment outside court but declined.
