Winston Hills Public School has been shut down after a school member tested positive for Covid.
The school’s principal Mark Byrne released a statement late on Thursday night saying the school will not be operating and deep-cleaned.
“Our school will be non-operational effective immediately for the on-site attendance of staff and students to allow time for contact tracing and cleaning,” according to a school statement from Mr Byrne.
“All staff and students are asked to self-isolate until you receive further advice (...)
“While we recognise this will be disruptive and inconvenience for families, it is important that we follow NSW Health advice and take all necessary precautions to minimise the risk of further transmission to support our community.”
The NSW Department of Education is working with NSW Health to ensure the safety of all staff and students.
Anyone with symptoms including a fever, cough, sore throat shortness of breath and runny nose have been asked to get tested.
