Tradie mauled by three dogs at Kenthurst in horror attack

UPDATED: A TRADESMAN was attacked by three Staffordshire terriers at a property in Sydney’s Hills district suffered multiple bites to his legs, arms, hands and back.

UPDATED: A SYDNEY tradie was savagely attacked by three dogs at a property in Sydney’s Hills district this morning after the owner let him in to repair a septic tank.

The 37-year-old tradie suffered multiple bites to his legs, arms, hands and back when he was set upon by two male Staffordshire terriers before 8am at Kenthurst.

A third dog, a female staffy, then joined in the attack in the grounds of the Pitt Town Rd property.

A 24-year-old woman at home at the time of the attack heard the man’s screams and rushed to his aid.

The woman, who owns the female dog, managed to pull her off the man.

The badly injured tradie, who was still being attacked by the male dogs, managed to stumble away from the scene and get over the front fence. The traumatised owner and several neighbours called police.

Praise has been given to the two Castle Hill police officers first on the scene just before 8am — Constables Thomas Coventry and Robert Skybinsky.

The police officers bandaged the man’s wounds and kept him conscious while not knowing where the two male dogs were before the CareFlight rapid response team arrived.

A CareFlight emergency doctor then worked with paramedics at the scene to stabilise the man before he was transported by ambulance to Westmead Hospital with CareFlight’s specialist doctor and intensive care paramedic on board.

The tradesman, who lives at Pitt Town, was transported to hospital in a stable condition.

A ranger from Hills Shire Council took control of the female Staffordshire while rangers searched the bush at the back of the property for some time before capturing the two male staffies.

All three dogs, which were taken to the Hawkesbury Animal Shelter at McGraths Hill, have been euthanased.

A spokeswoman from Hills Shire Council confirmed that one of the dogs involved in the attack had already been reported to council and is “subject to a previous nuisance order to prevent it from wandering”.

On Monday, two dogs were seized after an 81-year-old woman was attacked, suffering facial and body cuts after being set on in Wentworthville in an attack that also injured four others.

Emergency services were called to Fulton Avenue, Wentworthville, near Parramatta, about 1pm on Monday following reports two dogs were attacking a woman.

Four people — two men and two women — attempted to assist the woman and have also been attacked.

The 81-year-old woman was taken to Westmead Hospital for treatment of facial and body lacerations.
