An innovative health precinct featuring a $10 million cancer radiation therapy and IVF and reproductive surgery facilities will be built in northwest Sydney.
Major Sydney property developer, Mulpha Norwest, revealed its unique timber commercial tower will featuring a massive oncology department by GenesisCare and IVF centre by Dr Antony Lighten.
The multimillion-dollar health and commercial precinct, adjacent to Norwest Private Hospital, will see the cancer centre built by early 2022 and provide state-of-the-art radiation therapy techniques and technology to patients usually forced to travel hours for treatment.
Mulpha Developments executive general manager, Tim Spencer, told NewsLocal the developers were thrilled to see “leading-edge medical innovators” set to call The Bond commercial precinct home.
“Both companies are a natural fit for The Bond, given its focus on wellness, sustainability and innovation, and proximity to the Norwest Private Hospital. These are exactly the calibre of tenants we are attracting – knowledge and innovation companies that themselves want to attract and inspire the best staff and offer an appealing environment for clients,” Mr Spencer said.
While GenesisCare oncology executive, Ben Ward, said there were high needs for quality cancer care services in greater Western Sydney.
“The Hills district in Greater Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in NSW in terms of population growth so it is absolutely imperative we invest in the right healthcare infrastructure to ensure local community needs are met now and in the future,” he said.
“Patients from the Hills District can access surgery and medical oncology services locally at Norwest Private Hospital, however in some cases are currently travelling up to two hours a day for treatment to receive radiation therapy.”
The Norwest centre will provide patients with rapid access to new radiotherapy techniques and technology, including stereotactic body ablative therapy, tattoo free radiation therapy, deep inspiration breath hold (DIBH) and rapid access for palliative care.
Dr Lighten said the new commercial tower will be a relaxing space for Day Surgery and IVF visitors.
