Bringing together some of the biggest names in sport is all in a day’s work for eight dedicated volunteers.
The eighth annual ‘A Night With The Stars’ dinner will be held on Friday, March 10, and will include a bar stool conversation with sporting celebrities as well as auctions, raffles and live entertainment.
The organising committee has spent the past six months planning the event - which raises money for the Western Sydney Academy of Sport - with the help of sponsors Castle Hill RSL Group, Digital Realty, Crowe Horwath, Pendragon, Gremmo Homes, My Sports Tape, Mortgage Mechanix and Hitek Australia.
Organising committee chair Melanie Morson joined in 2010 to “support the vital work that the academy does in developing our next generation of Olympians”.
“I have been involved with the academy for over 15 years in my careers and seen first hand the impact the scholarship programs have across the diverse range of sports, not just the impact on the kids, but their families, their schools and their sporting clubs,” she said.
Mrs Morson said the event has raised more than $260,000 since 2010 and the committee hoped to reach $300,000 this year.
“The event is so special as it brings together key businesses that are committed to supporting the WSAS and the scholarship programs offered to our emerging athletes from Western Sydney,” she said.
Western Sydney Academy of Sport’s chief executive officer Martin Bullock said the organisation “look forward every year with great excitement” to the evening.
“It’s a fabulous night’s entertainment and great way to connect a wonderfully supportive Hills district business community with our Academy’s focus on assisting talented young athletes,” he said.
