Castle Hill RSL Group has been named a White Ribbon Workplace — one of 80 organisations in Australia to achieve accreditation.
The White Ribbon Workplace Accreditation Program recognises workplaces that take active steps to stop violence against women, and requires the organisation to meet 15 criteria to create a safer and more respectful workplace.
It took 18 months for Castle Hill RSL Group to be accredited, and it was acknowledged for its work in a number of areas, including its communication of domestic violence awareness and support to its patrons.
The Group has partnered with police and the Hills Domestic Violence Network in support of preventing violence against women and most recently donated a $45,000 playground to The Sanctuary — The Hills Women’s Shelter, as well as covering the $15,000 transportation and installation costs.
The RSL also hosts the annual White Ribbon Day breakfast each November.
Castle Hill RSL Group chief executive officer David O’Neil said the organisation was “committed to being a pioneer in contributing to the national effort to prevent & respond to men’s violence against women”.
“We will lead our industry by changing attitudes and behaviours that support gender inequality and men’s violence against women,” he said.
“Our prevention work is driven through our partnerships, projects and events with the Hills Domestic Violence Network, Hills Local Area Command, workplaces, community groups, sporting clubs and schools.”
