The Western Sydney Academy of Sport has been helping local young athletes reach their goals for more than a decade.
Adam Nelson, 18, joined WSAS three years ago and will start college in the US on a golf scholarship later this year.
The Kellyville teenager said his game has “improved immensely” since joining WSAS, and said one of the benefits was the individual attention given to athletes by their coaches.
“Whoever the coach is, they’ll take you under (their) wing and focus specifically on you,” he said.
Nelson, a member of the Castle Hill Country Club, said WSAS had helped his golf in a variety of ways.
“The academy helped me get a membership at C2K Gym, which has helped me physically with golf,” he said.
Nelson, who will move to the United States in August to start college, has been chosen to give the athlete address at the WSAS fundraising dinner next month.
WSAS’s eighth annual ‘A Night With The Stars’ will raise money for programs and young Western Sydney athletes like Nelson.
The dinner on Friday, March 10, will include a bar stool conversation with sporting celebrities as well as auctions, raffles and live entertainment.
Last year’s dinner raised $42,000, which will fund 200 scholarships for young athletes at WSAS.
The evening starts at 7pm at the Castle Hill RSL.
Tickets: $160 per seat or $1500 for a table of 10. For bookings, call WSAS on 4725 6466.
