Rouse Hill Hospital development set for GPT Group residential site

The site of the new Rouse Hill Hospital has been confirmed after confusion among locals about a potential clash with the $1.16 billion northern precinct residential development.

The new Rouse Hill Hospital will be built on the same parcel of land as the $1.16 billion northern precinct residential development.

Health Infrastructure NSW has confirmed the location of the major health facility following confusion from residents.

The Hills Shire Times last week revealed that GPT Group had lodged revised plans for Rouse Hill Town Centre’s northern precinct.

It was met by confusion by Rouse Hill residents who questioned where the proposed $300 million hospital will be relative to the proposed northern precinct development.

“Isn’t that where the new hospital is supposed to go?” one woman said on social media.

“Interesting, two developments on the same block,” another said while sharing artist impressions of the two different developments; Rouse Hill hospital and the northern precinct Rouse Hill Town centre.

NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard announced in March that the hospital was proposed to be “near Commercial Road” on the north-eastern side of Windsor Road instead of on the corner of Schofields and Windsor Roads as was originally announced in 2019.

Other sharp-eyed locals also found that GPT Group’s concept plan dated 4 May 2021 showed the proposed hospital will be on the corner of Schofields Road and Windsor Road.

Resident Sandra Ross said she and her fellow neighbours were very “confused” by the revised plans which dropped in their mailboxes last week.

“The premier etc all announced in March that the hospital would be on this site (northeast of Windsor Road). Apparently not. I went through all of the attachments to this DA and found the proposed sketch of the development,” Ms Ross said.

“The hospital is marked across from the cemetery on the corner of Windsor Road and Schofields road (the original announced site). So we’re all confused.”

When put to Health Infrastructure NSW, a spokesman said that the GPT concept plan mail out was not by the NSW Government and confirmed that the site announced in March has not changed.

He said the hospital will be in the block of land in the proposed northern precinct of Rouse Hill Town Centre, on the corner of Commercial and Windsor roads.

It is understood the exact site of the proposed hospital on the block of land was yet to be determined due to current negotiations between GPT Group and the NSW Government on land acquisition.
