Reuben Guan: Epping man’s charges of possessing prohibited weapons

A Sydney man will face court in March to answer allegations that he possessed a bizarre array of weapons, including a crossbow and two walking sticks with concealed blades.

A Sydney man is set to face court in March over allegations he possessed a range of prohibited weapons including a crossbow and ten body armour plates.

The 56-year-old Epping resident faces five charges of possessing or using prohibited weapons without a permit.

Police will allege Guan possessed or used an array of weapons including ten cans of pepper spray, ten body armour plates, a crossbow, two walking sticks with concealed blades, and one entrenching tool with a multi-edge blade.

Guan faced Hornsby Local Court on January 27 and pleaded guilty to the charge of possessing ten cans of pepper spray.

But Guan entered pleas of not guilty to the remaining four charges.

These four charges relate to the alleged possession or use of ten body armour plates, a crossbow, two walking sticks with concealed blades, and one entrenching tool with a multi-edge blade.

Police will allege that Guan amassed this collection of prohibited weapons without a permit.

Guan was charged with all five of these counts on October 12, 2021.

At Hornsby Local Court, Guan was granted bail and police are set to prepare a brief of evidence by February 24, 2022.

After receiving this brief of evidence, Guan is due to return to Hornsby Local Court on March 10, 2022.
