A plan to build a second childcare centre on a busy Baulkham Hills street have been knocked back by Hills Shire Council Planning Panel which cited environmental concerns
The proposal, put forward by Nero Pty Ltd, would have demolished a single-storey home to make way for a 90-place childcare centre.
Canyon Road already has Little Amigos Childcare and Early Learning Centre and Our Lady of Lourdes Primary School on it.
The panel noted the childcare centre would have required a car park which would have “unacceptable levels of tree removal”.
“The tree removal is contrary to the character of the locality and a desirable planning outcome for the retention of perimeter planting in particular.”
The panel also had concerns about the safety of the car park and noted the street already accommodates a school and another child care centre.
Thirty-seven submissions were made against the proposal.
