The beloved Orange Blossom festival has become the latest victim of Sydney’s Covid-19 lockdown with the event being postponed until later this year.
The “lights, beats and eats” bonanza involves LED light displays, live music and mouth-watering street food from onsite food trucks.
In a statement, Hills Shire Mayor Michelle Byrne said the popular Hills festival was forced to postpone “in the interests of public health.”
The festival – which was to run on August 28 at Castle Hill Showground – will be postponed to a date yet to be revealed.
Cr Byrne said that even if restrictions eased ahead of the previously scheduled date, there would not be enough time to turn the event around.
“Orange Blossom Festival requires countless hours of work from all sectors, including Council, private businesses and volunteers,” she continued.
“The advice from NSW Health changes almost daily and we are unsure what the health guidelines will look like in five weeks’ time.
“We understand this situation is challenging for everyone, but the health and safety of residents must come first.”
