Savvy shoppers can expect a broader range of products at discounted prices when Trade Secret in Castle Hill rebrands to TK Maxx in the next few months.
The off-price retailer, one of seven in Sydney and 35 in Australia, will be rebranded to TK Maxx by its new United States owner, clothing giant TJX.
TJX, the parent company of TK Maxx, bought all 35 Australian Trade Secret stores in October 2015 for $80 million.
It has continued to operate the stores under the Trade Secret banner but from next month it will begin converting them to TK Maxx, with new stores also planned to open later in the year.
While buying Trade Secret was its first foray into Australia, TJX owns 3800 retail stores worldwide — including 500 TK Maxx stores — with global sales of $US33.1 billion ($43.2 billion) in the last financial year.
TK Maxx Australia spokeswoman Tessa Buenen told the Times the specific opening date for TK Maxx Castle Hill would be confirmed “closer to the time”.
“We’re looking forward to bringing TK Maxx to Castle Hill and delivering exceptional value to local shoppers,” she said.
“We think locals are going to love the unique shopping experience and be truly wowed by the amazing selection of big brands and unbelievable price tags at our new store.”
Ms Buenen said customers will be able to shop at Trade Secret throughout the conversion process in April-May and once complete, they can expect an expanded selection of merchandise with a constantly changing mix of stock and brands.
Ms Buenen said the Castle Hill store’s current layout will remain the same with products sorted by category and size.
“Customers will also notice some other differences to the store when we open as TK Maxx, but the key change will really be the great production selection,” she said.
