Model Farms High, Winston Hills Public in school break ins

iPads and cash was stolen and property damaged after youths raided several schools in the Hills and Paramatta areas over the Easter holidays.

Several schools around the Hills and Parramatta have been broken into during the Easter holidays with police now searching through CCTV footage to identify perpetrators.

Hills and Parramatta Police have reported a series of alleged break ins at three primary schools and one high school in Winston Hills and Baulkham Hills in April.

The most recent break in was on Monday morning.

Police say security officers at Model Farms High School in Baulkham Hills spotted five youths running from the campus after multiple alarms were set off at about 3am on Monday (April 19).

Other schools broken into include Winston Heights Public on April 8 and 15, Winston Hills Public on April 8 and St Paul The Apostle Primary on April 12.

“We believe they are all likely to be the same people because they are all within a 5km radius,” Hills crime manager inspector Chris Laird said.

He said iPads and money were taken and school equipment had also been damaged.

Insp Laird said some of the four schools were broken into multiple times during the holidays.

“Model Farms was broken into four times,” he said.

It is understood CCTV footage has been collected by police with stills passed to school principals in order to help identify the alleged perpetrators.

Parramatta police’s crime prevention officer Rachael Kelly said it’s unclear how many alleged offenders were involved yet she said police have identified several persons of interest in relation to the break and enter at St Paul the Apostle.

Winston Hills Public School principal Mark Byrne confirmed the school had been broken into but did not wish to comment while police are investigating.

Model Farms High School has been approached for comment.
