A man is dead and a major road is closed after a truck and motorcycle crash in northwest Sydney.

Police have closed Windsor Rd at McGraths Hill following the death of a male motorcycle rider at noon today.

The male motorcycle rider was thrown from his bike after colliding with the truck at the intersection of Windsor and Pitt Town roads about 12.35pm on Tuesday, October 22.

The man was treated at the scene, suffering serious injuries, however died before he could be taken to hospital.

Police have closed Windsor Rd in both directions.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said the driver of the truck, who was not injured in the collision, has been taken to Hawkesbury Hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area,” the spokeswoman said.

“A brief will be prepared for the coroner.”
