Comanchero bikie Haydari Hakan has been arrested after police intercepted a kilogram of liquid ice soaked in bathrobes and towels in a shipment in Turkey bound for Australia.
The 37-year-old was arrested today after a joint-agency investigation into the attempted importation of methamphetamine (ice) from Turkey.
Australian Federal Police, NSW Police Force and Strike Force Vidar detectives launched an investigation after intelligence received from international partners that a shipment of illicit drugs was seized, destined for Australia.
On October 2, authorities in Turkey intercepted a consignment containing bathrobes, towels and fabrics that had been soaked with liquid methamphetamine.
Police allege the shipment was destined for an address in Sydney and contained about 1kg of liquid methamphetamine.
On Tuesday, police searched a house at Kellyville before arresting Hakan, who police allege facilitated the importation.
Hakan is known to police, and has links to the Comanchero Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.
Several electronic devices were seized during the search warrant.
Hakan was charged with conspiracy to import a commercial quantity of border controlled drugs, carrying a maximum penalty of life imprisonment; and dealing in proceeds of crime worth $1000 or more.
He faced Parramatta Local Court today, when the court refused bail.
Hakan could face a potential maximum penalty of life imprisonment if convicted.
The matter was adjourned to December 8.
