Witches, wizards and Muggles alike are in for a wand-erful time in Sydney’s northwest, where the owners of a Christmas tree farm have decked the place out with an enchanting Harry Potter-themed display.
For one week only, fans of all ages can wander through trees covered in decorations showing iconic moments and objects, such as Harry’s birthday cake, the golden snitch, chocolate frogs and even a ticket to Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.
And whether you belong to Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff, Gryffindor or Slytherin, there are plenty of trees screaming Hogwarts House pride.
Husband and wife duo Leo Demasi and Lynette Macri, who own and run the Dural Christmas Tree Farm, have put together a spellbinding — and free — experience for all who want some wizardry this festive season.
Mr Demasi said Christmas was already a magical time and the pair had turned to Harry Potter in a bid to add more.
“It took two-and-a-half to three days (to set up),” he told this masthead.
“We had a team of guys, a nice big team. (Warner Brothers) supplied the decorations. We hope everyone comes down and enjoy the Harry Potter spectacular.”
Ms Macri said combining the spirit of Christmas with the enchanting world of the beloved franchise was a way to spark up a family tradition.
“There’s the magic of Harry Potter and the magic of Christmas, and that’s sort of an obvious connection between the two,” she said.
She said most visitors to the farm were families, some of whom were now bringing new generations.
“Watching those traditions and keeping with those traditions is really beautiful,” she said.
Tuesday’s visit to the farm was a magical day out for the Crawshaw family, with mum Emily blown away with the display.
“I love it,” Mrs Crawshaw said.
“I loved Harry Potter, especially during lockdown time, and now the girls are getting a bit older we can watch some of the fun bits together.
“I feel like there is a bit of a hole in the market.
“My husband’s English and when we go (to England), everything is so festive and celebrated.
“This makes it so much more magical for the kids and they love it.
“It’s definitely something my oldest and my youngest will talk about for ages.”
Fans of the franchise, or parents who want to make magical memories with their kids, have until this Sunday to check out it.
