Castle Hill

An elderly man suffered a fractured hip among other injuries after being hit by a vehicle at Castle Towers shopping centre on Saturday morning.

Police said the 72-year-old pedestrian was trapped for a short time under a car.

The incident happened in a carpark area of the shopping centre about 11.10am.

He was taken to hospital in a serious condition following the incident.

Police said, as at Monday, he was recovering in hospital and had been treated for a fractured hip.

Police are making further inquiries about the incident.

Castle Hill

A package containing a substance believed to be cannabis has been handed in to police after it was left in a mailbox on Carrington Rd.

A woman checked her mailbox and found the package last Wednesday afternoon before informing police.

Kenthurst

Firefighters battled a house fire on Orana Rd during the early hours of last Wednesday morning.

The fire, which started in a wall cavity next to the fireplace, was quickly extinguished, restricting damage to the house. No-one was injured in the blaze.

Police were also called to the incident.

Riverstone

A man has been charged with high range drink-driving after allegedly mounting a kerb and falling asleep behind the wheel.

Police said about 12.45pm last Wednesday the man was allegedly driving a vehicle along Garfield Rd when he mounted a kerb and fell asleep.

Concerned members of the public contacted police who attended. Police allege, as they approached the vehicle, the man woke and drove his vehicle off the footpath.

He failed a roadside breath test and was taken to Riverstone police station where he returned a breath analysis of 0.261.

His licence was confiscated on the spot and he is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Monday, August 12.

Baulkham Hills

A 44-year-old woman has been charged with high-range drink driving after allegedly hitting another vehicle, mounting a kerb and crashing into a brick wall on Baulkham Hills Rd about 12.50am on Friday.

Police attended and arrested the woman following the incident.

She was taken to Castle Hill police station and allegedly returned a breath analysis of 0.155. She is due to front court at a future date.
