Dural house fire deliberately lit, police allege

A fire which swiftly tore through a home in Sydney’s northwest was allegedly deliberately lit. Police have released new vision of the blaze as part of an appeal for information.

Police have released footage of a house fire in Sydney’s northwest which they allege was deliberately lit.

Detectives have asked for information after the Dural home was destroyed about 4pm January 30, while no-one was inside.

“A forensic examination by specialist officers determined the fire had been deliberately lit, and the matter was referred to detectives from the Financial Crimes Squad’s Arson Unit, who commenced further inquiries under Strike Force Ashscrub,” a NSW Police statement read.

“Police … are appealing for any witnesses or those with dashcam vision from the area at the time to come forward.”

Mobile phone vision of the fire quickly spreading throughout the home has been released by police.

Investigations under Strike Force Ashscrub are continuing.
