Developers behind several new high-rise towers — which are earmarked to change the skyline of The Hills — have submitted new plans to include serviced apartments as part of plans for Castle Hill.

This week, Toplace submitted a new planning proposal to see the approval of serviced apartments in five soon-to-be-completed high-rise towers neighbouring Castle Towers and the Sydney Metro northwest station.

A spokeswoman for the Hills developers revealed Toplace lodged a recent planning proposal to allow for serviced apartments to be included as part of the Skyview development at Pennant St, Castle Hill.

The massive $850 million masterplanned residential development for the Castle Hill CBD, which will include five high-rise towers ranging from 19 to 23 storeys in height, could also include serviced apartments if Toplace new vision for the precinct is supported.

“This planning proposal provides for the orderly and economic development of the site with the flexibility of residential and tourist/visitor accommodation uses,” a planning co-ordinator said in proposal documents.

“The serviced apartments will provide for future employment opportunities to assist in meeting employment growth targets for the strategic centre of Castle Hill (and) will assist in supporting local business growth and improving the night-time economy of Castle Hill which increased movement of visitors around the centre of Castle Hill CBD.

The planning co-ordinator argued the proposal should be supported due to the proximity to the Castle Hill metro station and bus interchange and the offer of a mix of residential and commercial use.

“The planning proposal will have a positive impact (as) the proposal will not increase the permitted heights and floor space ratio across the site,” she said.

“The proposal is consistent with ‘transit orientated development’ and the sites proximity to the new metro station/railway line and existing bus interchange will assist in encouraging public transport use and walking within the Castle Hill strategic centre.

“There is capacity for serviced apartments on the site and will support the growth of Castle Hill strategic centre while providing additional accommodation choice for nearby business parks including Norwest, Bella Vista, Showground and Macquarie Park.”
