A NEW Jetson-style medium density development in the heart of Sydney’s northwest is bringing the smarts to the suburbs.
Developer Mulpha launched the Essentia ‘smart development’ in Norwest featuring 74 townhouses with solar and a fully integrated home battery storage system — reducing power bills by $1858 per year.
Smart technology also featured in the new Norwest development include energy monitoring, state-of-the-art home automation, rainwater recycling and LED lighting throughout each townhouse.
Mulpha general manager Tim Spencer said smart home concepts were a vital point of difference.
“We’ve been through a lengthy process to find the right product and installation partners for this development and we are certain that our fully integrated home automation and battery and solar system will be vital when it comes to powering the future,” Mr Spencer said.
“We understand we are not just building great homes, we are creating a place of wellbeing, economic opportunity and community.”

Construction on the six hectare project, off Fairway Drive, Bella Vista commenced in May this year, with a network of walkways, restaurants, cafes, retail, commercial and recreation facilities earmarked as part of the plans.
Mr Spencer revealed the development’s home automation system will be triggered by voice commands.
“A single voice command will turn on lights and airconditioning, retract awnings and play music while enabling smart management of power consumption and the simplicity of integrated security and digital connectivity,” Mr Spencer said.
Natural Solar chief executive Chris Williams said the company would be delivering high-end and smart batteries at scale.
“The market has spoken and clearly says it no longer wants the pressure of power bills and this is exactly what we are committed to delivering through our partnership
with Mulpha,” he said.
“We are very excited to see our core mission unfolding as we continue to push the boundaries and deliver environmentally significant solar and battery solutions at-scale.”
