Cherrybrook cafe The Burrow opens for dinner, drinks
A new destination for dinner and drinks has arrived in Cherrybrook.
A new destination for dinner and drinks has arrived in Cherrybrook.
The Burrow has begun a dinner service along with a boutique beer and wine menu, providing a local night spot for Cherrybrook locals.
Justin Camilleri and his stepmum Christine took over The Schoolyard Cafe at the end of July and recently changed the name.
“The Burrow” was chosen based on cafe’s location at the quiet Appletree Shops on Shepherds Drive.
“We think this place is a little hideaway, a little escape,” Justin said.
Christine said their menu was based on “simple, fresh food”.
“What we do, we want to do it well,” she said.
The menu is a correlation of Justin and Christine’s very different palates — Christine favours a good salad while Justin loves a juicy burger, and the result is a versatile all day breakfast and a lunch menu covering the healthy to the indulgent.
The Burrow is the pair’s first cafe venture and Christine said “it’s been really hectic but fun”.
“There’s always a new challenge,” she said.
Justin agreed: “It’s been fun but it’s been a hard adjustment as well.”
The pair wanted to open something of their own and when they saw the Cherrybrook site for sale Justin thought it had “potential for a lot more”.
While the interiors remain largely the same — the light-filled dining space with wooden tables and lots of hanging greenery — the pair have big plans for the site including renovations starting early next year.
The Burrow is open for breakfast and lunch everyday and for dinner on Fridays and Saturday nights at Shop 4, 132 Shepherds Drive, Cherrybrook.
