Luxury brand Haigh’s Chocolates is preparing to set to fulfil the sugar-laden dreams of Hills chocoholics when it opens at Castle Towers in time for Christmas.
The iconic Australian emporium will open its sixth Sydney branch near Myer and Country Road on level 3 with a diet-breaking 250 products including chocolate frogs, speckles, scorched almonds and handmade truffles, which are crafted using artisan production methods.
At its peak, 12 workers will be employed at the 168sq m shop.
Haigh’s Chocolates chief executive officer Alister Haigh said while online sales remained strong, the retailer was excited to open at the “first-choice retail destination’’ Castle Towers.
“Our Sydney customer numbers continue to grow and Haigh’s Chocolates was yet to have a
presence in the Hills,” Mr Haigh said.
“The past few months have been difficult for businesses, especially retailers, around Australia and we too have experienced those challenges first-hand.
“We’re therefore even more delighted to announce this store opening for the future enjoyment of our customers living in this part of Sydney while providing opportunities for local employment.”
Castle Towers centre manager Eddie Paynter said the centre anticipated the personalised attention that Haigh’s would bring to Hills consumers.
“As Australia’s oldest family-owned chocolate company it feels like welcoming a part of Australian history into our centre,’’ he said.
“While the quality of ingredients, skill in the cooking process and diverse range are all world-class, it is actually the customer experience that our Castle Towers community should be most excited about, with taste testing, gift wrapping and personalised attention all part of
the service.”
The company was founded in Adelaide in 1915 by Alfred Haigh and has grown to employ more than 650 people across the nation.
Its other Sydney shops are in the CBD, Bondi Junction, Chatswood and Miranda.
