A Sydney lawyer has been suspended from practising over allegations she submitted fake contracts to obtain a $150m loan to kickstart a high-rise residential development being built by her father’s company.

Ashlyn Nassif, 27, has been charged with dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception and publishing false or misleading material following a bombshell Organised Crime Squad investigation.

Police will allege the principal of Sydney construction law firm EA Legal submitted $10.5m in fake pre-sale contracts to Westpac Bank for more than a dozen apartments in the $900m Skyview Castle Hill apartment tower complex to fund a $150m loan for the development.

The development was being built by Toplace, the company belonging to her father and high profile developer Jean Nassif.

Mr Nassif is not accused of any wrongdoing or any involvement whatsoever in the alleged fraud.

Ms Nassif is yet to enter any pleas and was granted bail in March with a whopping $2.6m surety after her family put up a property they own outright to secure her release.

In the latest twist for Nassif, the lawyer of more than six years has now been suspended by the NSW Law Society.

A judgment published on the Legal Services Commissioner’s Register of Disciplinary Action confirms Nassif’s practising certificate was suspended on May 4 because “(the) solicitor has been charged with a number of serious offences”.

The register indicates Nassif’s practising certificate will be suspended until the NSW Law Society’s council revokes it, until 28 days after a potential future conviction, or on the day the charge is dismissed.

Nassif’s matter will next be mentioned at Burwood Local Court on May 24.
