Bourbah: man dies in fatal quad bike and ute crash

A man in his 50s has died after a quad bike and a ute collided on a rural road in NSW’s Central West. The ute driver has now been charged and identified in court.

A man is behind bars on remand after a man in his 50s died in a collision between a quad bike and a ute on a rural road in NSW’s Central West.

David Gall, 63, was charged with dangerous driving causing death and negligent driving causing death after the fatal incident on May 19.

In a statement, NSW Police said officers were told about 3.45pm a quad bike and utility collided on Gulargambone Rd, Bourbah, about 58km southwest of Coonamble.

The utility driver – allegedly Gall – then travelled to a property nearby to contact emergency services.

Police arrived at the scene and located the quad bike and a man’s body on the road.

The man is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged 50.

Orana Mid-Western Police District officers established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist forensic police and the Crash Investigation Unit.

The driver of the vehicle – allegedly Gall – was uninjured and taken to Coonamble Hospital for mandatory testing.

When he was released from hospital, Gall was arrested and taken to Coonamble Police Station, before being transported to Dubbo Police Station where he was charged and his driver’s licence suspended.

Gall appeared briefly before Dubbo Bail Court on Saturday (May 20), where he was formally refused bail and the matter adjourned to Dubbo Local Court on May 22.
