Arthur St, Seven Hills Rd intersection to get traffic lights

A dangerous intersection in Sydney’s north west is set to get lights in an effort to improve safety and decrease congestion on the busy stretch of road.

The tragic truth about road deaths in Australia

Plans to improve safety at a dangerous intersection in Baulkham Hills have been given the greenlight by The Hills Shire Council.

Traffic signals will be installed at the intersection of Seven Hills Rd and Arthur St, Baulkham Hills in an effort to improve safety and decrease congestion on the busy stretch of road.

Hills Shire Mayor, Michelle Byrne, said council committed more than $3 million to improve safety for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.

“We’ve relocated all the necessary services, including Optus and Telstra lines, Endeavour Energy power and Sydney Water pipes, to allow for the installation of traffic lights,” Mayor Byrne said.

“Once installed, the lights should help to ease congestion, while providing easier access for vehicles turning onto Seven Hills Road.”

Following council’s approval of the plans, Cr Byrne called for NSW Roads and Maritime Services to commit to the construction of a grade separation at Seven Hills and Windsor roads.

“Residents are frustrated that they can’t move through the Baulkham Hills town centre without being delayed by gridlock and some days the traffic can be so bad, that it literally moves at a snail pace,” she said.

“A grade separation at the intersection of Windsor and Seven Hills Road would free up a lot of the traffic and allow those travelling into and out of our Shire to move through this major thoroughfare with ease.

The lights will also improve safety for pedestrians.

“This concept has been on our agenda for more than a decade and it’s an important upgrade that we hope the Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) take into consideration as part of any future road upgrades for the area,” Mayor Byrne added.
